Check Up's for your health:
· Pap Smears: Have a Pap smear every 1 to 3 years.
· Chlamydia Tests and Tests for Other Sexually Transmitted Diseases: If you are sexually active get tested for chlamydia and other sexaully trasmitted diseases. (especially if you are under 25 years of age).
· Mammograms: Starting at the age of 40, get a mammogram every 1 to 2 years.
· Cholesterol Checks: Have your cholesterol checked annually. If heart disease runs in your family, or you smoke, or have diabetes, start having your cholesterol checked as early as age 20.
· Blood Pressure: Have your blood pressure checked annually.
· Colorectal Cancer Tests: Have a test for colorectal cancer starting at age 50 or sooner if the diseases runs in your family
· Diabetes Tests: Get tested for diabetes if this condidtion runs in your family or you have high blood pressure or high cholesterol.
· Depression: If you frequently feel "blue" sad, or hopeless, you may be suffering from depression. Contact a phyciatrist or a counselor for screening.
· Osteoporosis Tests: If there is a history of the osteoporosis in your family then be sure to be pre-screened for this condition early (40's). If you are small boned or have periodontal disease you are more prone to this disease. Otherwise, have a bone density test at age 65.
