Keeping comfortable and avoiding prickly heat is a major concern for backpackers and climbers. Mountain Hardware looked to the cooler climate of Scotland for an interesting solution to this problem. The kilt's Supplex nylon fabric is rugged, breezy and quick-drying and has a Micro Chamois-lined waist that lets backpacks rest comfortably on the hips. An adjustable belt, snaps and clips keep the thing closed – or as closed as it's going to get. And a large zippered pocket and one waist pocket with a key clip provide space for gear. It comes in sizes from extra small to extra large.
